The development of an in-house stablecoin was first discovered in the source code of Paypal\u2019s iPhone <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> by developer Steve Moser.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the evidence found on the PayPal app, Jose Fernandez da Ponte, PayPal\u2019s SVP of crypto and digital currencies, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-01-07\/paypal-is-exploring-launch-of-own-stablecoin-in-crypto-push\">told<\/a> Bloomberg <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe are exploring a stablecoin; if and when we seek to move forward, we will of course, work closely with relevant regulators.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-01\/13de7800-9203-46e7-96c2-c6819bcb0e74.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\">PayPal Coin logo found inside of PayPal app. Source: PayPal iPhone app<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Moser\u2019s finding uncovered that PayPal is in the works of building PayPal Coin, which will be backed by the United States dollar. However, a PayPal spokesperson clarified that the source codes of the iPhone application were developed in a recent hackathon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While PayPal\u2019s digital asset is in the making, the name, logo and features of the in-house token are subject to change prior to launch. Supporting the ongoing development, PayPal has previously launched new features that allow users to buy, hold and pay with digital coins.<\/p>\n<p>da Ponte had also pointed out in an <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/unchainedpodcast.com\/paypal-would-need-these-two-things-in-order-to-issue-a-stablecoin\/\">interview<\/a> from November 2021 that PayPal has \u201cnot yet seen a stablecoin out there that is purpose-built for payments.\u201d According to him, a stablecoin should support payments at scale while ensuring the security of the network, adding:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere would have to be clarity on the regulation, the regulatory frameworks, and the type of licenses that are needed in this space.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Related:<\/strong> <strong><em>PayPal completes crypto trading rollout for UK customers<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to launching its own stablecoin, PayPal has also taken proactive measures to spread crypto-related services in jurisdictions out of the U.S. <\/p>\n<p>In September 2021, the company announced a rollout of new Bitcoin trading services for the UK market.
