Fortunately, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a> has uncovered a new way to do it, and if you\u2019re a list-maker, you\u2019re gonna love it.<\/p>\n<p>According to Dr. Wendy Wood, author of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Good-Habits-Bad-Science-Positive\/dp\/1250159075\/?tag=lifesavvysite-20\"><em>Good Habits, Bad Habits<\/em><\/a>, there are two parts of your brain to blame for your bad habits.<\/p>\n<p>The first is the prefrontal cortex, or your intentional mind, where goal-oriented habits come from. Essentially, this is the part of your brain that propels you to make good decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Then, there\u2019s the\u00a0orbitofrontal cortex, or your \u201chabitual mind\u201d as Dr. Wood calls it. This is basically your \u201cinner child,\u201d which seeks reward and positive emotion. It\u2019s the orbitofrontal cortex that wins when you form bad habits.<\/p>\n<p>So, how do you stop your inner brat from taking over your frontal cortex?<\/p>\n<p>Evidently, it\u2019s all about what you do the moment the bad habit kicks in. What you need to do is im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely create a pro and con list in your brain.<\/p>\n<p>For example, if you want to start going to bed earlier, starting a new episode of a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> you\u2019re binging a few minutes before your new bedtime isn\u2019t a good idea. However, you\u2019ll likely do it anyway because the habit formed in your orbitofrontal cortex.<\/p>\n<p>When this h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens, think about the pros and cons of the decision. In this case, the pro is you\u2019ll get to watch more of a series you like. The cons, however, are you\u2019ll likely be sleepier in the morning or you might even oversleep. You\u2019ll also feel less rested all day and maybe even be disappointed in yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Essentially, you have to train your brain to reinforce the downsides of certain habits, like binge-watching too late at night. Then, just keep repeating that step until it kicks in. Don\u2019t forget, of course, to focus on the benefits too!
