The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.consumer.ftc.gov\/blog\/2022\/01\/new-crypto-payment-scam-alert\">scam<\/a> has three key components, an impersonator, a QR code and a crypto ATM where the victims will be directed to send money.<\/p>\n<p>According to the FTC, fraudsters pretend to be public officials, law enforcement agents or employees of local utility companies. The imposters also utilize dating <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>s and pretend to be potential romantic partners or call victims to announce that you\u2019ve won a prize.<\/p>\n<p>No matter how it starts, it always ends up with the scammer asking for money. If the user falls for the spiel, the scammer tells them to withdraw some cash and go to a crypto ATM. After that, they ask to purchase crypto through the ATM. Here, the QR code comes into play. They share the QR code of their wallet address with the victim. Because of this, once the victim scans the code,\u00a0the purchased crypto assets would transfer to the fraudster\u2019s account.<\/p>\n<p>Cristina Miranda from FTC\u2019s the Division of Consumer and Business Education explained:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHere\u2019s the main thing to know: nobody from the government, law enforcement, utility company or prize promoter will ever tell you to pay them with cryptocurrency.
