Even if you\u2019re already filtering unknown senders in Messages on iPhone, you still might see notifications every time you get a text from an unknown number. To stop that and silence the annoying SMS notifications, you\u2019ll need to make a quick visit to Settings. Here\u2019s how to set it up.<\/p>\n

First, open Settings on your iPhone.<\/p>\n

In Settings, scroll down and tap \u201cNotifications.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Notifications, tap \u201cMessages.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Messages notification settings, scroll down to the very bottom and tap \u201cCustomize Notifications.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Customize Notifications, flip the switch beside \u201cUnknown Senders\u201d to the off position.<\/p>\n

After that, exit Settings. From now on, as long as you have \u201cFilter Unknown Senders\u201d enabled in Settings (head to Settings > Messages, then flip \u201cFilter Unknown Senders\u201d to on), you will no longer receive notifications when unknown senders text you.
