noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/content\/dam\/Deloitte\/global\/Documents\/Consumer-Business\/us-2022-global-automotive-consumer-study-global-focus-final.pdf\">\u00a0study<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"c-link\" tabindex=\"-1\" href=\"https:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/nl\/nl.html\" data-stringify-link=\"https:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/nl\/nl.html\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\" data-remove-tab-index=\"true\">Deloitte<\/a><span>\u00a0has found at least.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Amongst the 1,031 American respondents, <span>nearly two-thirds preferred sticking to conventional gas-guzzlers for their next vehicle purchase.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Some 17% would consider a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), while only 5% would get a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), or a battery electric vehicle (BEV).<\/p>\n<p><span>Conversely, consumer interest in BEVs is highest in South Korea (23%), China (17%), and Germany (15%).<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"post-image public charging infrastructure are the main reasons why respondents from all countries wouldn\u2019t consider an EV as their next vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>For Americans, driving range is the biggest concern among the two, and the survey shows that they have great expectations when it comes to their vehicle\u2019s juice.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, they\u2019d need a whopping <em>800km<\/em> range to buy an EV target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/policyadvice.net\/insurance\/insights\/how-much-do-americans-drive\/\">drive more than anyone else in the world<\/a>, and the average driver makes around <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fhwa.dot.gov\/policyinformation\/statistics\/2019\/\">1,600km per month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span>Looking at the data above, this means they\u2019d opt for an electric vehicle if its range could cover half the distance they <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> monthly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s more, 30% of the US respondents believe that EVs have a similar environmental impact compared to conventional vehicles, while 21% believe they\u2019re even more harmful.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_the_takeaway_here\"><\/span>What\u2019s the takeaway here?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>While the survey\u2019s sample is limited in number, there\u2019s still an important conclusion we can make: the EV message hasn\u2019t been well communicated to American consumers.<\/p>\n<p>While range anxiety is a reasonable demotivating factor, the excessive range expectations indicate that consumers aren\u2019t still fully aware of EVs\u2019 capabilities or mode of operation. The same goes for their environmental benefits.<\/p>\n<p>And given that personal vehicles remain the preferred mobility choice for 76% of the US respondents, it\u2019s vital that conventional cars are \u2014 at least \u2014 gradually replaced by their electric counterparts.<\/p>\n<p><span>Unsurprisingly, this calls for further action from the government.
