“#Quantum Leap Reboot Snags Pilot Order at NBC: Will Scott Bakula Return?<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Another day, another reboot.<\/p>\n

In today’s TV climate, the networks are betting on well-known IP as opposed to new and exciting projects.<\/p>\n

The latest reboot is Quantum Leap, and before you get your hopes up, the update is to focus on a new team.<\/p>\n

\"Scott<\/img><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The new take comes from La Brea co-showrunners Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt.<\/p>\n

It also includes Blindspot creator Martin Gero as an EP, as well original Quantum Leap creator Don Bellisario.<\/p>\n

It is set to take place in the present, picking up 30 years after the events of the series<\/a> finale, with a new team restarting the project to unlock some of the biggest mysteries.<\/p>\n

\"Scott<\/img><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

At this time, Scott Bakula is not attached to star, but conversations are underway about him having an involvement.<\/p>\n

Bakula’s co-star on the original series, Dean Stockwell, passed away last year at 85.<\/p>\n

Bakula has been open in the past about the potential of bringing the show back, telling the late Bob Saget on his podcast that there were “very significant conversations.”<\/p>\n

\u201cThe rights were a mess for years,” the actor said.<\/p>\n

\"Dean<\/img><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

“I don\u2019t know if they\u2019re even sorted out now. That\u2019s always been the biggest complication.”<\/p>\n

However, he said that conversations with series creator Bellisario over the years always resulted in the creator saying the following:<\/p>\n

“\u2018I can\u2019t write it without thinking of you and Dean.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gero responded to the news<\/a> on social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“This has been a very hard secret to keep,” he said via Twitter.<\/p>\n

“Thrilled that our friends at @nbc have given us the chance to bring this phenomenal show back and continue the story.”<\/p>\n

“Can\u2019t wait for you all to see what we have in store.”<\/p>\n

Quantum Leap originally aired on NBC, lasting a total of 97 episodes from 1989-93.<\/p>\n
