She felt that the reaction was a combination of the commentariat picking on her for being a woman, combined with Rodgers being a lightning rod. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI pretty much have hugged Rodgers since I started covering the NFL. He\u2019s been a good friend of mine for the last 15 years,\u201d Andrews said. \u201cIt was so funny because the people close to me in my life like my family or other quarterbacks I know or other players are like \u2018Why is this a big deal?\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI loved Pat McAfee for joking around with him, and being like, \u2018You two gotta stop hugging.\u2019 And I loved when Aaron kinda said she\u2019s my friend. It\u2019s also like him mentioning that he hugs other guys, opposing players and I was like \u2018yeah! We see them all the time, we\u2019re with them during the highs and lows of their career. I\u2019m grateful for the access they\u2019ve given me. I\u2019ve got to tell you, for the first time, whether you want to call Rodgers a lightning rod for his stance on COVID, I don\u2019t want to get into that \u2014 what I\u2019m getting involved in is sports. I was pumped he broke [Brett Favre\u2019s Packers touchdown pass] record.\u201c<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>\n<p>Andrews concluded that it must be a \u201cchick thing\u201d because two males hugging never gets brought up as an issue. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the first time in my career I kind of thought, this was like a chick thing,\u201d Andrews said. \u201cThey\u2019re going after it because I\u2019m a female. Now, maybe I have it wronged they\u2019re just going after it because Aaron is a lightning rod right now but I will say this, no one has said anything when Greg Olsen and [George] Kittle tackled and hugged each other. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>\u201cIn fact it\u2019s an NFL meme \u2014 in fact they used it in the middle of the game because it was a cool moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve watched \u2018Monday Night Football\u2019 with [Randy] Moss hugging the guy and I never get that way because I\u2019m grateful for my job and employers but for the first time I was like \u2018Is this a chick thing? If I was a guy and gave him a hug would anybody have cared?\u2019 I wanted to right it so bad. I gave [Matt] Stafford a hug and I\u2019m friends with him and his wife and no one said anything. Maybe because Aaron is a lightning rod. So stupid. Slow <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, Andrews got to what was probably a bigger factor in the broader reaction than something resembling middle school teasing: she had just finished the COVID theater of giving a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a>ly distanced interview with Rodgers before the hug, breaching the social distance that had been broadcast on television.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I know that there\u2019s the other argument where we\u2019re doing the interview six feet apart, because of the COVID protocol,\u201d Andrews said. \u201cIt is what it is. I understand that. I\u2019ll do whatever the NFL needs me to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>\n<p>What Andrews touched upon here is accurate: She is not responsible for the interview having been conducted at a social distance. That is a decision made by the NFL and Fox.
