Take, for example, the status of Barrett Cain.<\/p>\n<p>Are we going to see Morris Chestnut back on the show again? That\u2019s been a question from the very start of the season but, unfortunately, there isn\u2019t all that much of a clear answer. We do think that the character is well worth bringing back at some point, especially since he was such a good foil to everyone else.<\/p>\n<p>However, there are some issues associated with a potential return \u2014 most notably the fact that he has another full-time job over on\u00a0<em>Our Kind of People.\u00a0<\/em>Speaking in a new interview with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/1028677\/the-resident-season-5-billie-trevor-aj-mother-death-morris-chestnut-returning\/\">TV Insider<\/a>, here is some of what co-showrunner Andrew Chapman had to say on the subject:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Morris is on\u00a0Our Kind of People, and we don\u2019t know whether it\u2019ll get picked up again for another season. He\u2019s a very busy actor, so we\u2019ve been trying to slot him in, but not to success. However, if he\u2019s available for another season and we get another season, you would see some good Morris Chestnut.<\/p>\n<p>For the time being, we\u2019re less than optimistic about the fact that we\u2019ll see Morris again this season.\u00a0<em>Our Kind of People\u00a0<\/em>isn\u2019t exactly pulling in big ratings, though, and from that vantage point alone, it\u2019s easy to foresee an opportunity arising for Cain to come back next season.
