\n The city has yet to clean up splotches of paint thrown on the Black Lives Matter mural in front of Trump Tower a week after the vandal struck \u2014 with New Yorkers blaming \u201cpathetic\u201d Mayor Bill de Blasio who \u201cwavers on the flavor of the month.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mark-David Hutt, 31, of Rochester, NY, was busted on two consecutive days last weekend \u2014 July 25 and 26 \u2014 for tossing paint on the city\u2019s most controversial BLM display on Fifth Avenue near East 56th Street.<\/p>\n

On the first day, he was busted just after 5 p.m., and the next morning, he was back at it \u2014 and cuffed at 10:10 a.m., cops said. He was issued desk app<\/a>earance tickets on each day.<\/p>\n

But the paint remains on the logo one week later.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a full week and I asked the cops why the DOT hasn\u2019t repaired the BLM paint job,\u201d Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa told The Post. \u201cThey said City Hall doesn\u2019t seem to care any longer about this BLM logo. The mayor seems to have ADD on this matter, like he does most matters in NYC.\u201d<\/p>\n

A police source told The Post that the mayor \u201cwavers on the flavor of the month.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever the flavor of the month is, that\u2019s what he concerns himself with,\u201d the source said. \u201cThat\u2019s what makes him a horrible mayor. Black lives matter isn\u2019t the flavor of the month anymore. Very short attention span, we know that already. It\u2019s just a waste of taxpayer dollars in the first place. You got between five and 15 cops sitting out there on overtime watching that stupid shit and shootings are piling up. They\u2019re there to protect the mural, and obviously they\u2019re not doing a good job of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesman for de Blasio\u2019s office blamed inclement weather on Friday for the delay in removing the paint and said the city\u2019s Department of Transportation should be out removing it Monday.<\/p>\n

He did not immedia<\/a>tely explain why the paint wasn\u2019t removed earlier last week, besides to say that \u201cthey were doing some similar work out in Queens on Thursday.\u201d<\/p>\n

On that day,\u00a0de Blasio rolled up his sleeves to help paint the movement\u2019s slogan on Jamaica Avenue near 150th Street in Queens.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a practical matter this work is getting done as quickly as we can do it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

But Matthew Martin, 30, a project manager living in Midtown, called it \u201cpretty disappointing\u201d that the city would leave the mural in a defaced state for so long, \u201cconsidering this is probably the most notable Black Lives Matter mural in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean I get that a\u2013holes are going to keep trying to deface it again and again, because there are always people out there looking to destroy a positive message,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut you\u2019d think the mayor, given his politics and his purported dedication to black lives and to progressivism in general<\/a>, would make it a priority to get this cleaned up first thing. Leaving it like this for a week is pretty pathetic, honestly, and is a pretty good indicator of the kind of leader the mayor is.\u201d<\/p>\n

William Hao, 27, was also shocked when told that the vandal struck a week ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow can they leave it looking like this?\u201d he asked. \u201cSo many eyes are on this mural every day. It\u2019s a disgrace to leave it in this condition. If the mayor makes a whole event out of helping to paint the mural in the first place, he has to make sure it stays in good condition.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s known for being an ideologue more than a pragmatist, and this is the perfect example,\u201d Hao added. \u201cHe\u2019ll make the big symbolic gesture, but not follow through when it counts. And it\u2019s sad because as long as it looks like this, the message belongs to the opposition, not BLM.\u201d<\/p>\n
