\n A Texas man is facing a capital murder charge for fatally stabbing his 7-year-old brother, police said.<\/p>\n

The boy, Jacob Gabriel Brito, was found by police with multiple stab wounds at a home in Haltom City late Saturday. He was rushed to a hospital but died there from his injuries, cops said in a statement Sunday.<\/p>\n

The boy\u2019s 20-year-old brother, Isidro Brito Bruno, was taken into custody outside the home, where he was found with an app<\/a>arent self-inflicted stab wound to his upper body, police said.<\/p>\n

Detectives have thus far been unable to determine a motive in the slaying.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an active investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n

Brito Bruno, who was initially taken to a hospital for his wounds, remained held early Monday at the Tarrant County Correction Center in lieu of $250,000 bail, online records show. It\u2019s unclear if he has hired an attorney.<\/p>\n

At least a dozen relatives on Sunday mourned the boy outside the family\u2019s home, where a massive photo of Jacob holding a baseball bat was set up, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.<\/p>\n

The youngster was a huge baseball fan \u2014 and also loved Spider-Man and watching toy reviews on YouTube<\/a>, his brother-in-law told the news<\/a>paper.<\/p>\n

\u201cJacob was a joyful person, very caring, he loved to put other people in front of him,\u201d said 23-year-old Jesus Ochoa, who is married to the boy\u2019s older sister. \u201cHe was very giving to anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ochoa said the couple thought of Jacob as their own son.<\/p>\n

Ochoa also asked that people not make assumptions as to what to led up to the boy\u2019s death, the newspaper reports.<\/p>\n

\u201c[People] don\u2019t really know what happened, they\u2019re just jumping off of what they hear,\u201d Ochoa said.<\/p>\n

An online fundraiser set up help offset Jacob\u2019s funeral costs has surpassed $8,600 as of early Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis tragic death left a huge impact on the family and we would like to keep the details private,\u201d the website reads.<\/p>\n

Brito Bruno, meanwhile, had been scheduled to appear for a virtual hearing on Sept. 29 for a previous assault with bodily injury charge involving a relative at the same home where Jacob was stabbed, the Star-Telegram reports.<\/p>\n

Details of the May 2019 assault were not immediately available, the newspaper added.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
