\nFruits Basket – prelude –<\/span><\/em>\u00a0has received another trailer ahead of its February 18 release in Japan. The scenes in the trailer largely center on Kyoko Honda, Katsuya Honda, Tohru Honda, and Kyo Sohma from various moments in the Fruits Basket<\/em> chronology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fruits Basket \u2013 prelude \u2013<\/em>is described as a compilation movie with new footage, with Kyo Sohma narrating the events of the\u00a0Fruits Basket<\/em> series<\/a>. The film will notably depict the story of series protagonist Tohru\u2019s parents, who are deceased by the time the main Fruits Basket<\/em>\u00a0story starts. Kyoko is described as an unmanageable student who barely attends school, while Katsuya is a trainee teacher at her middle school.<\/span><\/p>\n

The movie will also have content revolving around Tohru and Kyo that take place after the events of the series.<\/span><\/p>\n

The returning staff from the series includes\u00a0Yoshihide Ibata<\/strong>\u00a0as director,\u00a0Taku Kishimoto<\/strong>\u00a0as script<\/a>writer,\u00a0Yuu Shindou<\/strong>\u00a0as character designer,\u00a0Youko Kouyama<\/strong>\u00a0as art director,\u00a0Mika Sugawara<\/strong>\u00a0as color designer,\u00a0Po-Lun Tsai<\/strong>\u00a0as photography director, and\u00a0Masaru Yokoyama<\/strong> as music composer. TMS Entertainment<\/strong> is the animation production company.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the cast includes\u00a0Miyuki Sawashiro<\/strong>\u00a0as Kyoko,\u00a0Yoshimasa Hosoya<\/strong>\u00a0as Katsuya,\u00a0Manaka Iwami<\/strong>\u00a0as Tohru,\u00a0Nobunaga Shimazaki<\/strong>\u00a0as Yuki Sohma, and\u00a0Yuuma Uchida<\/strong>\u00a0as Kyo.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Fruits Basket<\/em>\u00a0manga<\/a> by\u00a0Natsuki Takaya<\/strong> began in 1998 and ended in 2006 with 23 tankoubon volumes. The series was serialized in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine and published under the Hana to Yume Comics label.\u00a0A sequel titled\u00a0Fruits Basket Another<\/em> began in 2015 and ended in 2019 with three tankoubon volumes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The original manga was first adapted into an anime series in 2001, while the\u00a0Ibata<\/strong>-helmed reboot anime series began in 2019 and ended in 2021 with three seasons. Studio Deen produced the first series, while TMS Entertainment produced the reboot series and\u00a0Fruits Basket \u2013 prelude \u2013<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n
