\n US stocks climbed again Monday as Wall Street clutched onto continued optimism about the economy recovering from the coronavirus crisis.<\/p>\n

The Dow Jones industrial average soared as much as 254.39 points, or 0.9 percent, to 27,365.37 at the open, building on Friday\u2019s 829-point rally fueled by a shockingly positive jobs report.<\/p>\n

The tech-heavy Nasdaq rose as much as 0.3 percent in early trading to a new all-time high of 9,847.16, breaking the intraday record it posted Friday. And the S&P 500 jumped as much as 0.5 percent in early trading to 3,211.31, just 0.6 percent below where it was at the start of the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe world\u2019s largest economy just grabbed the baton back and is leading the stock market rally,\u201d OANDA senior market analyst Ed Moya said in a commentary.<\/p>\n

The Dow gained 6.8 percent last week as a slew of encouraging economic data indicated to investors that the worst of the coronavirus downturn is over.<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s jobs report showing the economy added 2.5 million jobs in May \u2014 in defiance of widespread expectations for further losses \u2014 came on the heels of improved manufacturing activity and consumer confidence last month.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the road to economic recovery will indeed be bumpy, stocks are looking ahead 12 to 18 months and seeing a return to normalcy,\u201d said Marc Chaikin, founder of investment research firm Chaikin Analytics. \u201cAnd of course the development of a safe, effective vaccine is also an important assumption that is built into the market\u2019s historic advance and move toward euphoria.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last week\u2019s despite widespread civil unrest in the US over police brutality and the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Protests continued over the weekend, with thousands of people taking to the streets in New York, Washington and other cities.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
