“#’Baskets’ Emmy-Winner & Stand-Up Comic Was 68<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Emmy-winning comedic actor Louie Anderson has died. He was 68.<\/p>\n

Anderson passed away in Las Vegas on January 21 where he had entered the hospital earlier that week for extra care for a form of cancer known as diffuse large B cell lymphoma. The star\u2019s diagnosis had only been made public earlier this month.<\/p>\n

The actor and stand-up comedia<\/a>n made a big impact as a funnyman over the years, but among the roles he\u2019s best known for is Christine Baskets, the mother to Zach Galifianakis\u2018 twin brothers Chip and Dale in FX\u2018s offbeat comedy Baskets<\/em>. In 2016, Anderson took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series<\/a> for his turn as the Baskets matriarch and was nominated in the same category in the two years following his win.<\/p>\n

Among Anderson\u2019s most recent TV credits were parts in HBO Max\u2018s Search Party<\/em> as a lazy lawyer, BET\u2018s Twenties<\/em>, Young Sheldon<\/em>, and No Activity<\/em>. The actor also reprised his role as Maurice in 2021\u2019s Coming 2 America<\/em>, the sequel to the 1988 original, Coming to America<\/em> in which he worked at McDowell\u2019s alongside Eddie Murphy\u2018s Prince Akeem.<\/p>\n

Anderson was also a two-time Daytime Emmy Award winner for his show Life with Louie<\/em>, an animated TV series chronicling his childhood. And for a while, he helmed the beloved game<\/a> show series Family Feud<\/em>. His other TV credits include The Louie Show<\/em>, Drunk History<\/em>, Scrubs<\/em>, Nash Bridges<\/em>, Ally McBeal<\/em>, Touched by an Angel<\/em>, and Grace Under Fire<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Along with the Coming to America <\/em>films, Anderson\u2019s movie work includes Ferris Bueller\u2019s Day Off<\/em> and The Wrong Guys<\/em> among others.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
