$1,000 of his first City Hall paycheck in just four days after converting it into cryptocurrency during a plunge in the market, a Post analysis shows.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Adams, who pulls an annual salary of $258,750, said Friday he converted his first biweekly paycheck \u2014 worth about $5,900 after average tax withholdings \u2014 into the cryptocurrencies bitcoin and ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>From the beginning of the day on Friday until Monday morning, bitcoin\u2019s price plunged by about 15.9%, while ethereum fell 24.3%.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The mayor didn\u2019t detail exactly how he divided his paycheck between the two cryptocurrencies, but a $5,900 investment split 50\/50 between bitcoin and ethereum at midnight on Friday would now be worth just $4,714 \u2014 a loss of $1,186.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If Adams had put his entire paycheck into bitcoin, he would now have about $4,961, while the same amount of money invested in ethereum would be worth $4,466. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The mayor\u2019s office did not im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>In November, Adams first pledged to take his first three paychecks in cryptocurrency as part of a plan to make New York City into the \u201ccenter of the cryptocurrency industry and other fast-growing, innovative industries.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img cryptocurrencies, so the mayor\u2019s office said his paycheck would immediately be converted into cryptocurrency using the crypto exchange Coinbase.<\/p>\n<p>Adams made his initial crypto pledge when bitcoin was trading north of $60,000.
