We were trying to take the kids out and they were panicking,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI spoke to the driver and said to come out, he said: \u2018I can\u2019t, I\u2019m stuck.\u2019 Some parents were in the bus as well, crying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tried to calm them but it was a big shock. They were all scared and crying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another have-a-go hero, who was drinking a tea in the caf\u00e9 at the time, also raced to the injured as soon as he heard the crash.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cWe couldn\u2019t open the front doors, they were jammed shut. We got everyone off when we could.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe went to see the driver, he was stuck but he was conscious.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just stayed with the injured \u2014 there was a lot of blood from the head injuries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA girl was not moving initially, I thought she was dead, but there was a strong pulse. It was leaking with fluids afterwards, I don\u2019t know what they were.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got out of my car to help all of them off the bus. I called 999 and was trying to see who was worst injured, and I got on the bus \u2013 they were young kids, their mum and dads weren\u2019t there, they were all in shock. I was in shock myself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of them were seriously injured. He said his brakes weren\u2019t working.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%80%98Massive_explosion\"><\/span>\u2018Massive explosion\u2019<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Others described hearing a \u201cmassive explosion\u201d in the aftermath of the crash which left them \u201ctraumatized\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The front of the store appeared to be partially destroyed, as paramedics treated several patients at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: \u201cWe sent a number of resources to the scene of this incident in Highams Park this morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking with our emergency service colleagues we treated and assessed 19 people at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf those 19, we took five people to hospital: three children and two adults.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: \u201cAt approximately 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday January 25 police were called to reports of a bus in collision with a shop in Selwyn Avenue, E4.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficers and London Ambulance Service are on scene. A number of people have reported suffering injuries and are being treated at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoad closures remain in place around the junction of Selwyn Avenue and Winchester Road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Waltham Forest Council added: \u201cWe\u2019re getting information about a traffic incident on Selwyn Avenue Chingford involving a bus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmergency services are on the scene \u2013 please be patient if you are in the area.
