Notably, centralized finance (CeFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi), can coexist, and a \u201cblend\u201d of financial products and services will be available to users in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 21, Cointelegraph moderated the panel discussion, \u201cCan CeFi and DeFi Coexist?\u201d for the Global Blockchain Business Council. In the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4KTeiBr9WHg&amp;t=174s\">video<\/a>, panelists hash out questions related to adoption, banking the unbanked, and whether innovation means disruption of traditional financial services.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Can CeFi and DeFi Coexist?\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4KTeiBr9WHg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>Salient points included the need for greater education and transparency in the cryptocurrency space, while financial inclusion could be reached thanks to smooth onboarding techniques and clear-cut regulation. Popular blockchains like Solana and the Bitcoin Lightning Network cropped up as well as DeFi protocols including Uniswap.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of education, Mary Beth Buchanan, president, Americas and chief legal officer at crypto risk and intellegence fMerkle <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Science<\/a>, commented:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cA lot of people are not being served in traditional finance. The winner in the disruption race will be the project that has the ability to reach those in the community who are not currently accessing DeFi, and there has to be education.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ambre Soubiran, CEO of digital asset data provider Kaiko, agreed that the solution to broadening DeFi\u2019s reach is through \u201ceducation, onboarding, and knowing the risks. People want the easy ability to reset a password as opposed to remembering 24 words.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Peled, founder and president of public blockchain Orbs, is passionate about bringing financial inclusion to \u201cthe two billion people around the world,\u201d but \u201cthe industry is early.\u201d He echoed Soubiran\u2019s point that \u201cmany people don\u2019t have access to DeFi <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lications; the products are complicated and tech-heavy. People still don\u2019t know how to secure their funds securely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, for Peled, it is more than just educating people, it\u2019s about providing a level-playing field on which everyone follows the same rules: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere is huge quantitive easing and 70% of all the money in the world has been printed in the past two years. The young don\u2019t hold existing scarce assets such as real estate, equity, or gold; and they are not accredited investors who can get in on opportunities at the early stage. They (the young) are the ones adopting DeFi because they see the opportunities compared to other alternatives.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ultimately, the creation of Bitcoin (BTC) sought to remedy such issues. As the first successful separation of money from the state, it possesses a clear issuance rate that renders the monetary network more transparent and equal for participants.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Michael Moro, CEO of digital currency broker Genesis Global, shared Peled\u2019s view on demographics:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe folks in the west are the most engaged into various DeFi protocols. The user interface and experience isn\u2019t great as you have to be fairly tech savvy to be able to engage directly with Defi today. It <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly needs to become a lot easier for folks to engage.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ultimately, the panel eventually agreed that a combination of education and onboarding will pave the way for greater financial inclusion. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: DeFi vs. CeFi: Comparing decentralized to centralized finance<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Regulation is high on the agenda in 2022. But it should ignite more growth in the space, because \u201cas long as the on ramps and off ramps are regulated, then there will be a lot more freedom,\u201d Moro continued.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Soubiran shared a similar view regarding onramps: \u201cThere is an opportunity for the existing institutions to leverage blockchain <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> and the underlying infrastructure in order to provide the same services they are providing today.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>As for the future of the DeFi and CeFi space, Nicolas Bertrand, former head of derivatives markets and commodities at Borsa Italiana had the last word.
