Recently, a nasty bug was reported in Safari\u00a0that leaked your browser data. It sat out there in the wild for a bit, but App<\/a>le has released iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 to fix the leak and close that gaping security hole.<\/p>\n

With the bug, websites could access a user\u2019s browser history and Google ID when they\u2019re not supposed to access that information. While it\u2019s not as bad as having your passwords stolen, it\u2019s still a fairly serious leak and one that we\u2019re glad to see Apple fix.<\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s update notes simply say, \u201ciOS 15.3 includes bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone and is recommended for all users.\u201d The company also links to its security updates page<\/a>, but it doesn\u2019t include the information for iOS and iPadOS 15.3 yet.<\/p>\n

However, 9To5Mac<\/a> tested the prerelease software and found that it did fix the Safari bug, so we definitely recommend updating your devices as soon as possible to make sure that the security hole is closed.<\/p>\n

Outside of the security fix, there doesn\u2019t seem to be any other significant changes to iOS and iPad with this update.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Apple released\u00a0macOS 12.2 with the same Safari security patch, so if you\u2019re a Mac user who uses Safari as your browser of choice, you\u2019ll want to make sure to update your computer. The Mac update also features\u00a0improved ProMotion scrolling.<\/p>\n

Finally, Apple released watchOS 8.4, which comes with\u00a0bug fixes and performance improvements.<\/p>\n

Make sure your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch are up to date to fix these security issues as soon as you can, as it\u2019s definitely worthwhile.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
