\n Amazon has finally removed a listing for a UK shoe company after receiving backlash from a British lawmaker over its use of the N-word in its online description.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust buying brown brogues tonight leads to this racist micro aggression. Is it 2020 or 1720? Please \u2066\u2066@amazon\u2069 take it down,\u201d tweeted UK Labor Party official David Lammy, who reportedly discovered the inflammatory footwear listing while shopping.<\/p>\n

An accompanying photo shows the now-removed advert for a \u201cFormal Oxford\u201d by Floren, which was described as bearing the color \u201cN\u2009-\u2009-\u2009-\u2009-\u2009r-brown.\u201d The ad had allegedly been on the site since March, per Lammy\u2019s account.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the rest of the description reads like a normal ad with the lace-up being touted as \u201ca great choice to wear\u201d for every occasion from work to weddings. However, the abundance of grammatical mistakes in the copy has led some to believe the racist slur was the work of an online troll.<\/p>\n

The product is no longer available, an Amazon representative told CNN, adding that sellers who don\u2019t adhere to their guidelines will be subject to \u201cpotential removal of their account.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lammy has since thanked the retail giant for removing the listing. However, he also criticized Amazon\u2019s screening process, noting that \u201cthis is not the first time\u201d controversial content has appeared on the site.<\/p>\n

Indeed, despite proclaiming that such products are prohibited, the e-bazaar continues to be inundated with questionable listings as of late. In June alone, Amazon pulled multiple adverts for Nazi paraphernalia as well as a controversial childrens T-shirt that depicted the death\u00a0of George Floyd.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
