\n New York City\u2019s embattled Health Commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot \u2014 who drew ire for telling an NYPD boss she didn\u2019t \u201cgive two rats\u2019 asses\u201d about his cops during the height of the coronavirus pandemic \u2014 resigned from her post Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Barbot submitted her resignation letter to City Hall Tuesday morning, she said in an email to her Department of Health colleagues and obtained by The Post.<\/p>\n

She does not say why she\u2019s stepping down.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been an honor and privilege to serve at the helm of an agency with its long and distinguished history in promoting and protecting New Yorkers\u2019 health through ordinary times and during some of the most challenging moments in our city\u2019s history,\u201d Barbot wrote.<\/p>\n

In a press release, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Dr. Dave Chokshi, a top official at NYC Health Hospitals, as her replacement.<\/p>\n

Barbot has served as health commissioner since December 2018.<\/p>\n

She came under fire mid-coronavirus pandemic for telling NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan \u201cI don\u2019t give two rats\u2019 asses about your cops\u201d while blowing off an NYPD request for 500,000 face masks.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
