Bungie split from Microsoft in 2007 and began operating as an independent studio, while Microsoft retained IP rights to the \u201cHalo\u201d franchise.<\/p>\n<p>Bungie later entered into a long-term publishing deal with Activision, but ended the deal in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The studio\u2019s current project, the multiplayer shooter Destiny 2, has developed a large player base.
