\n Following her comments on the Holocaust, Whoopi Goldberg<\/strong> has been suspended from The View<\/em> for two weeks.<\/p>\n

ABC News<\/a><\/strong> president Kim Godwin<\/strong> said in a statement on Tuesday:<\/p>\n

\u201cEffective immedia<\/a>tely, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments. While Whoopi has apologized, I\u2019ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments. The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This action comes one day after Whoopi said on TV:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re going to do this, now let\u2019s be truthful about it because the Holocaust isn\u2019t about race. No. It\u2019s not about race.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Later on Monday, Whoopi released an apology, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cOn today\u2019s show, I said the Holocaust \u2018is not about race, but about man\u2019s inhumanity to man.\u2019 I should have said it is about both. As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, \u2018The Holocaust was about the Nazi\u2019s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people \u2014 who they deemed to be an inferior race.\u2019 I stand corrected. The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never waiver. I\u2019m sorry for the hurt I have caused. Written with my sincerest apologies, Whoopi Goldberg\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As of this writing, Whoopi has not commented on her suspension.<\/p>\n
