{"id":402917,"date":"2022-02-02T23:21:16","date_gmt":"2022-02-02T20:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/norway-bans-breeding-cavalier-king-charles-spaniels-bulldogs\/"},"modified":"2022-02-02T23:21:16","modified_gmt":"2022-02-02T20:21:16","slug":"norway-bans-breeding-cavalier-king-charles-spaniels-bulldogs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/norway-bans-breeding-cavalier-king-charles-spaniels-bulldogs\/","title":{"rendered":"#Norway bans breeding Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, bulldogs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Norway bans breeding Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, bulldogs<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>They may look cute, but Norway has ruled they\u2019re a product of cruelty \u2014 and they\u2019re no longer allowed to be bred.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Norway\u2019s Oslo District Court made a unanimous, landmark ruling that breeding bulldogs and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are a violation of the Norwegian Animal Welfare Act section 25 and will no longer be tolerated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The ruling was prompted by a case brought in November 2021 by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dyrebeskyttelsen.no\/om-oss\/\">Animal Protection Norway<\/a> out of concern for the dog breeds\u2019 numerous, critical health issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe man-made health problems of the bulldog have been known since the early 20th century. This verdict is many years overdue,\u201d said \u00c5shild Roaldset, the CEO of Animal Protection Norway <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/kommunikasjon.ntb.no\/pressemelding\/full-victory-for-the-dogs?publisherId=16958427&amp;releaseId=17925382\">in a post<\/a> published by the group following the ruling. \u201cFor several decades, sick dogs have been bred in violation of Norwegian law. Our dogs [have] been victims of systematic and organized betrayal of our four-legged friends. Thus, cross-breeding of the beloved \u2014 if often sickly \u2014 dog types is still possible and permitted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA conviction does not imply a ban on serious breeding of Bulldog or Cavalier, as serious and scientifically based cross-breeding could be a good alternative,\u201d the judgment stated. Without such traceability, \u201cit is impossible\u201d for dog breeding to be effectively supervised, Roaldset added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a day of celebration for our dogs! The Animal Welfare Act is intended to protect animals from the irrational actions of humans, and it has done so today.
