{"id":403119,"date":"2022-02-03T00:36:30","date_gmt":"2022-02-02T21:36:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/new-york-times-pressured-workers-to-reject-union-report\/"},"modified":"2022-02-03T00:36:30","modified_gmt":"2022-02-02T21:36:30","slug":"new-york-times-pressured-workers-to-reject-union-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/new-york-times-pressured-workers-to-reject-union-report\/","title":{"rendered":"#New York Times pressured workers to reject union: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#New York Times pressured workers to reject union: report<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Senior executives at The New York Times urged some 600 tech employees to vote against forming a union, warning them that it was an \u201cunproven experiment with permanent consequences,\u201d according to a report.<\/p>\n<p>Internal memos and Slack messages obtained by the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2022\/feb\/01\/leaked-messages-new-york-times-anti-union-strategy\">Guardian<\/a> detail the extent to which Times management is alleged to have sought to dissuade workers in the company\u2019s \u201cXFun\u201d department to unionize.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cXFun\u201d is the name given to the \u201ccross-functional teams\u201d that work collaboratively in various Times departments, including data, design, engineering, and marketing.<\/p>\n<p>Meredith Kopit Levien, CEO of The New York Times Company, circulated a Jan. 19 memo to staff in titled \u201cWhy a Tech Union Isn\u2019t Right for Us,\u201d according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn short, we don\u2019t believe unionizing in XFun is the right move.
