This is called \u201csideloading,\u201d and it\u2019s possible on any Android device. The Google Play Store has security protocols to make sure the apps and games you download are safe. While not perfect, it\u2019s a pretty decent system.<\/p>\n<p>When you sideload an app or game from outside of the Play Store you are bypassing some of those protocols. Google Play Protect can detect some malware and other issues with sideloaded apps, but it\u2019s still not as secure as downloading from the official store.<\/p>\n<p>This is why it\u2019s very important to make sure you get apps and games from trusted sources if you\u2019re going to go outside the Play Store. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/apkmirror.com\">APK Mirror<\/a> is our go-to source for sideloading and we highly recommend you use it, too. If you\u2019re using a browser, you\u2019ll typically see an option to \u201cOpen\u201d it after downloading. They can\u2019t be installed in the same way as APKs.
