Now, you grant apps access to certain features as it needs them. You can also manually revoke permissions from any app.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t need to root, install a custom ROM, or\u00a0switch to an\u00a0iPhone to do this anymore. For example, instead of giving an app access to your camera when you install it, you\u2019ll be prompted the first time the app wants to access your camera. The permissions you\u2019ve \u201cAllowed\u201d are at the top, while the \u201cNot Allowed\u201d permissions are underneath. Simply tap a permission to adjust it.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_note\"><p><strong>Note:<\/strong> When revoking permissions from older applications, you\u2019ll see a warning message saying, \u201cThis app was designed for an older version of Android. Most apps should continue working fine, anyway\u2013 unless you revoke a permission that\u2019s central to any functionality.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>As usual with Android, some of these\u00a0steps may work differently on some devices. We performed this process with Android 12 on a Google Pixel phone. Android manufacturers often modify the interface on their devices, and some options may be in different places.
