It targets \u201ccrowdfunding platforms and the payment service providers they use.\u201d <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThese changes cover all forms of transactions including digital assets such as cryptocurrencies.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Together, protesters had amassed over $19 million in funds through the fundraising platforms GoFundMe and GiveSendGo. However, those funds have been blocked from reaching the convoy, leading some to organize a fundraising round using Bitcoin (BTC). <\/p>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HonkHonkHodl\">HonkHonk Hodl<\/a> group raised 22 BTC valued at nearly $1 million through the Tallycoin BTC fundraising platform. HonkHonk Hodl closed their Tallycoin page on Feb. 15 because they had exceeded their fundraising goal. Those funds are still expected to be distributed to protesters.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Tallycoin bitcoin fundraiser supporting the Canadian Freedom Convoy protests has been voluntarily shutdown by organizers. There is no word yet on the fate of the Convoy\u2019s funds.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A file allegedly containing tens of thousands of names of those who donated to the Freedom Convoy has also been leaked.<\/p>\n<p>Working to verify further details.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mikael Thalen (@MikaelThalen) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MikaelThalen\/status\/1493058753368756228?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 14, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>BBC <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-60383385\">reported<\/a> that Quebec Premier Francois Legault said prior to Trudeau\u2019s announcement that invoking the Emergencies Act could \u201cthrow oil on the fire.\u201d However, Trudeau insisted the emergency powers would be \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lied temporarily and in a highly specific manner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Civil Liberties Association <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cancivlib\/status\/1493383579983917057\">contended<\/a> today that the Prime Minister has overstepped his authority by invoking the Emergencies Act. It said, \u201cThe federal government has not met the threshold necessary to invoke the Emergencies Act.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis law creates a high and clear standard for good reason: the Act allows government to bypass ordinary democratic processes. In the press conference, Freeland only noted that all crowdfunding platforms are required to report \u201clarge and suspicious transactions\u201d to Fintrac, The Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada. <\/p>\n<p>Crypto supporters such as Pylon Holding Company founder Preston Pysh have shared sardonic delight at the possibilities for adoption that the Freedom Convoy has made apparent. Pysh tweeted today in response to Freeland, \u201cWhat an advertisement for Bitcoin.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">And there it is\u2026things are starting to get spicy.
