Google hopes it\u2019ll also have a positive impact on reducing global eWaste.<\/p>\n<p>You can run Chrome OS Flex using only a USB drive, with setup taking a few minutes.<\/p>\n<p>This development comes after Google acquired Neverware in 2020, a company that enabled loading Chrome OS on old devices with its CloudReady software. While there were whispers about Google integrating it directly into Chrome OS, the new announcement means the company has branched it off into its own product.<\/p>\n<p>There are certain conditions you have to meet before you can run Chrome OS Flex, including device specifications and compatibility. Let\u2019s dive into it.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_do_I_need_to_run_Chrome_OS_Flex\"><\/span>What do I need to run Chrome OS Flex?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Here are the minimum device requirements to run Chrome OS Flex:<\/p>\n<p>Architecture: Intel or AMD x86-64-bit compatible device<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>RAM: <\/strong>4 GB<\/li>\n<li><strong>Internal storage:<\/strong> 16 GB<\/li>\n<li>The machine is bootable from USB.<\/li>\n<li><strong>BIOS:<\/strong>\u00a0Full administrator access<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Unfortunately, you can\u2019t run this OS on machines with ARM processors, such as M1-powered Macs. As ARM-powered systems are <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly newer, most can run modern software, and don\u2019t necessarily need to be compatible with a lightweight operating system. Google warns that Chrome OS Flex might give you a subpar experience if your system is using components made before 2010.
