{"id":408275,"date":"2022-02-21T20:10:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-21T17:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/ca-lawmaker-introduces-legislation-to-accept-crypto-as-payment-for-govt-services\/"},"modified":"2022-02-21T20:10:00","modified_gmt":"2022-02-21T17:10:00","slug":"ca-lawmaker-introduces-legislation-to-accept-crypto-as-payment-for-govt-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/ca-lawmaker-introduces-legislation-to-accept-crypto-as-payment-for-govt-services\/","title":{"rendered":"# CA lawmaker introduces legislation to accept crypto as payment for govt services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong># CA lawmaker introduces legislation to accept crypto as payment for govt services <\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content\" data-v-128018ef>California State Senator Sydney Kamlager, representing the 30th Senate District including parts of downtown Los Angeles, has introduced a bill which would amend the state\u2019s code to allow for the acceptance of cryptocurrencies for certain payments.<\/p>\n<p>According to Senate Bill 1275 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220SB1275\">introduced<\/a> in the California Legislature on Feb. 18, Kamlager proposed authorizing a state agency \u201cto accept cryptocurrency as a method of payment for the provision of government services.\u201d The modification of the current state law, which allows for the establishment of state agencies to provide services to residents which require payments, would add crypto to the list of acceptable payment methods.<\/p>\n<p>The adoption of crypto and blockchain seems to be a prominent issue for many candidates running for office in California in 2022. Aarika Rhodes, an elementary school teacher running to represent the state\u2019s 30th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, is accepting Bitcoin (BTC) and other tokens for campaign contributions in her efforts to unseat anti-crypto lawmaker Brad Sherman. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-02\/7d020f42-bd24-42fa-a81e-25eef4bd21a0.jpeg\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>California State Capitol. Last week, Colorado Governor Jared Polis said he expects the state to accept tax payments using cryptocurrencies by summer 2022. In addition, a Tennessee state representative introduced a bill earlier this month which would allow the state to invest in crypto and nonfungible tokens. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>California named \u2018most crypto ready\u2019 US state<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Though many of the pushes for state-level regulation of crypto have been from Republican lawmakers, Kamlager and others suggesting similar legislation \u2014 as well as efforts at the federal level \u2014 seem to suggest that the space can be open to more than one political party.
