\nNebraska State Senator Mike Groene<\/strong> has offered to resign amid a creepy new scandal involving an aide\u2026 but will he apologize??<\/p>\n

An aide to the Republican lawmaker filed a formal complaint of a violation of the legislature\u2019s harassment policy earlier this month after finding photos of herself on her boss\u2019s computer. Photos she never posed for that she never realized Groene had taken.\u00a0Complaints about senators or staffers aren\u2019t released to the public unless the Executive Board finds \u201cserious\u201d misconduct. Not sure what that entails, but what the staffer has revealed publicly is pretty gross. Kristina Konecko<\/strong> told the Omaha World-Herald<\/em> there were several closeup pics of various body parts, along with sexually suggestive captions. Ew.<\/p>\n

Groene has given a jaw-dropping response to Konecko\u2019s accusation. He confirmed he had taken the photos \u2014 because how could he deny it, right? \u2014 but said they were harmless \u2014 and that he often took photos of staffers, visitors, and family members.<\/p>\n

Um, this is a little different than making a scrapbook of your time in office, Mikey. We\u2019re talking about fetish photography here!<\/p>\n

That part, at least, Groene denies. He says the pics weren\u2019t closeups of body parts and were not of a sexual nature at all. (Please, like a woman doesn\u2019t know when pics of herself are of a sexual nature? Ugh.)<\/p>\n

Speaking to the\u00a0Associated Press<\/em> about the matter, he said he apologized to Konecko when she originally confronted him \u2014 but then he pretty much blamed her for overreacting in so many words, shrugging:<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s a very modest person and I guess she was offended.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI guess she was offended\u201d? That is NOT an apologetic attitude, guy!<\/p>\n

As far as his offer to resign, that seems genuine. He told the outlet:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m done. I really don\u2019t care. I don\u2019t care about politics anymore. I\u2019ve got bigger fish to fry.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

To be clear, Groene was coming up on his term limit anyway, so he\u2019s giving up less than a year \u2014 though he has also offered to leave politics altogether.<\/p>\n

That may not be enough for everyone. His Democratic colleague in the Nebraska Senate,\u00a0Megan Hunt<\/strong>, sent a letter to the Attorney General<\/a> and the Nebraska State Patrol to request they investigate the matter to see if any laws were broken. We\u2019re not holding our breath \u2014 in Nebraska, even nonconsensual pornography has yet to be made illegal. Considering who we now know is making the laws, it\u2019s no wonder, right?<\/p>\n
