\n President Trump said Wednesday that Black Lives Matter is \u201ca Marxist group that is not looking for good things for our country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump said in a \u201cFox & Friends\u201d interview that he questions the \u201cair of great respectability\u201d for Black Lives Matter after two months of national unrest over the killing of George Floyd by Minnesota police.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlack Lives Matter, when did it start? Marching down streets screaming, \u2018Pigs in a blanket fry them like bacon.\u2019 They were talking about policemen,\u201d Trump said. \u201cSo all of a sudden, this has taken on this air of great respectability. Well, how does it start there? It\u2019s a Marxist group.\u201d<\/p>\n

Black Lives Matter is both a diverse social<\/a> movement and the name of a national organization \u2014 whose leaders include co-founder Patrisse Cullors,\u00a0who described herself and fellow co-founder Alicia Garza as \u201ctrained\u00a0Marxists<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, one of Trump\u2019s attorneys, visited the White House last month and told reporters while departing that Black Lives Matter is a \u201cMarxist<\/span>\u00a0organization\u201d\u00a0that was \u201cplanning to destroy the police for three years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump also told \u201cFox & Friends\u201d he disapp<\/a>roves of the role of Antifa, or so-called \u201cAnti-fascist,\u201d activists who have clashed with authorities in Portland and other cities since Floyd\u2019s death in May.<\/p>\n

Trump slammed a remark from Rep. Jerry Nadler (R-NY) that Antifa violence was \u201ca myth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t being naive. This is being untruthful. These are lying people, these are untruthful people,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

He added that he believes \u201cyou have Democrats funding them. They say [George] Soros and they say other people \u2014 who knows.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump did not provide specific information about the claim that Democrats fund Antifa groups. But Soros, the left-wing billionaire investor, said last month that he would distribute $150 million to \u201cBlack-led justice organizations that helped to create and now sustain the momentum\u201d of recent protests.<\/p>\n

Trump added in the Fox News<\/a> interview about Antifa: \u201cYou see them standing there with weapons that are expensive, with signs that were made \u2014 literally they have signs, some of their little marches, they have signs that were made in a high-class printing shop. I like the signs that are made in a basement, they mean a lot more.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
