Comedy Central has ordered a reimagination of\u00a0The Ren & Stimpy Show<\/em>. The original animated series<\/a>, about a dog and a cat, ran for five seasons on Nickelodeon (from 1991-1995).\u00a0An adult spinoff, Ren & Stimpy:\u00a0<\/em>Adult Party Cartoon<\/em>, aired three episodes on Spike TV in 2003.<\/p>\n

“I want to thank our partners at Nick Animation as we re-imagine these iconic characters with a new creative team,” Nina L. Diaz, President of Content and Chief Creative Officer for ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Group, said in a statement.<\/p>\n

“We are excited to reinvent this iconic franchise with a new creative team and our partners at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio,” Chris McCarthy, President of ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Group, added. “Ren &\u00a0Stimpy joins\u00a0our rapidly expanding roster\u00a0of\u00a0adult animation including South Park<\/em>,\u00a0Beavis and Butt-Head<\/em>, and\u00a0Clone High<\/em>\u00a0as we\u00a0continue\u00a0to\u00a0reimagine our treasure chest of\u00a0beloved\u00a0IP for new generations.”<\/p>\n

This reimagination of\u00a0Ren and Stimpy\u00a0joins ViacomCBS’\u00a0previously-announced modern takes on\u00a0Beavis and Butt-Head<\/em>\u00a0(also at Comedy Central) and\u00a0Clone High<\/em>. The new\u00a0Beavis and Butt-Head<\/em>, from creator Mike Judge, will see the\u00a0iconic Gen X characters as they “enter a whole new Gen Z world.” Meanwhile, MTV Studios’ new\u00a0Clone High<\/em> will follow the clones of prominent historical figures in high school dealing with teen woes.\n <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
