And every time she puts it on, it\u2019s an absolute honor,\u201d O\u2019Connell, 46, told The Post during a recent Zoom interview from their home in Calabasas, Calif. \u201cSo I\u2019m actually a little jealous that I don\u2019t get to put an outfit on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, he\u2019s thrilled to join \u2014 even in 2-D form \u2014 one of the most famous sci-fi franchises in Hollywood history. And he was especially moved that his first congratulatory message came from Jonathan Frakes, who plays first officer Willliam Riker in \u201cThe Next Generation\u201d and its new spinoff, \u201cPicard,\u201d starring Sir Patrick Stewart.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe did a group text between my wife, myself and him and he said, \u2018Look at us: Three Number Ones. Jerry, welcome to the family.\u2019 And it was really touching,\u201d O\u2019Connell said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16089038\"><img alt=\"Jerry O\u2019Connell and his \u201cStar Trek: Lower Decks\u201d character, Commander Jack Ransom.\" data- data- height=\"441\" width=\"662\"><\/img><figcaption><span>Jerry O\u2019Connell and his \u201cStar Trek: Lower Decks\u201d character, Commander Jack Ransom.<\/span><span>Getty Images; CBS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>O\u2019Connell described his new series \u2014 which is the second cartoon in the franchise and was given a two-season initial order \u2014 as \u201c\u2009\u2019Rick and Morty\u2019 meets \u2018Star Trek.\u2019\u2009\u201d (CBS Television Studios said that a third animated show, \u201cStar Trek: Prodigy,\u201d will premiere on Nickelodeon in 2021.) \u201cLower Decks\u201d follows the scr<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>y USS Cerritos\u2019 workers who take on menial tasks like fixing malfunctioning food replicators and cleaning virtual bathrooms on the holodeck. The hard-partying crew also has to deal with O\u2019Connell\u2019s upper-decks character, an attention-grabbing bro whom he described as \u201cRiker on steroids\u201d and \u201ca guy who has been to Starfleet human resources a few times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While \u201cStar Trek\u201d has embraced occasional humorous moments in its movies and series, this is the first full-on comedy for the franchise. The genre shift didn\u2019t worry O\u2019Connell, though he knew \u201cTrek\u201d fans could be a protective, inquisitive bunch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a tough crowd. I\u2019d say it\u2019s the most demanding audience I\u2019ve ever been involved in,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a big swing and some people want to make sure that their baby is protected. But I can assure you that we have the \u2018Star Trek\u2019 fan base and universe in our best interests. We\u2019re just trying to have a good time with everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fittingly, a laid-back O\u2019Connell spoke with The Post while outdoors with a laptop and sitting on the hood of his 1986 Jaguar. \u201cIf Ransom had a car, this is probably what he would be driving. Something classy like that,\u201d he joked. The interview was even briefly interrupted by Romijn, who honked her car horn and stopped to say hi as she drove by.<\/p>\n<p>But fans looking for intel about her secretive, much-anticipated \u201cStrange New Worlds\u201d spinoff \u2014 co-starring Anson Mount as USS Enterprise Capt. Christopher Pike and Ethan Peck as first officer Mr. Spock \u2014 will need to look elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou want any spoilers?\u201d he asked us before imploring her, \u201cGive us a spoiler \u2014 come on!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No such luck, Trekkies; it seems he\u2019s not great with keeping coveted secrets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy wife says she\u2019s gonna sit on the spoilers,\u201d he relayed as she drove off. \u201cRebecca doesn\u2019t tell me anything or let me read about anything. She\u2019s afraid I\u2019m going to say something online \u2014 and she is probably right.
