Fraud. Fugitives\u201d<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/netflix\/status\/1441040701320351750?lang=en\">\u201cTrust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King<\/a>\u201d \u2014 documentaries revolving around notorious swindlers.<\/p>\n<p>Streaming services are wise to invest in programs about scam artists. \u201cThe Tinder Swindler\u201d has become an instant global sensation, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/tinder-swindler-seduces-way-to-top-of-netflix-charts\/\">entering Netflix\u2019s Top 10 chart<\/a> in 92 countries. Meanwhile, \u201cInventing Anna\u201d<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/entertainment-arts-60490247\"> notched up the most viewing hours for an English-language Netflix series<\/a> since the service began a new ratings system last summer. It\u2019s outperformed mega-hits such as \u201cYou,\u201d \u201cSex Education\u201d and \u201cMaid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So, with streamers bringing out the con in content, why can\u2019t we get enough of these grifters? And what is it about these programs that keeps us glued to the screen?<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/manhattanpsychologist.com\/\">Greg Kushnick<\/a>, a Manhattan-based psychologist, told The Post that our sense of disgust causes us to cast moral judgments on swindlers, which in turn incites a sense of pleasure. The lying Lothario, 31, love-bombed his dates with lavish gifts and Michelin-star meals before claiming he needed to borrow some quick cash to close on deals. The fraudster then made off with the money in order to keep funding his luxurious lifestyle. <\/p>\n<p>Sorokin \u2014 the woman on whom \u201cInventing Anna\u201d is based \u2014 bears striking similarities with Leviev. Take, for example, the fact that <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.insider.com\/netflix-paid-anna-delvey-sorokin-tv-series-victim-fund-2021-1\">Sorokin, who has been outspoken in the press, was paid $320,000 by Netflix<\/a> for the rights to her story. Leviev, meanwhile, has just signed with a Hollywood agent.<\/p>\n<p>Kushnick claims these shameless scammers exhibit signs of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/narcissistic-personality-disorder\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20366662\">narcissistic personality disorder. <\/a>The psychologist shared that he has seen a \u201cdramatic uptick\u201d in NPD cases in recent years \u2014 so perhaps we see a bit of ourselves in these swindlers. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cShamelessness is linked to narcissism,\u201d Kushnick told The Post. \u201cWe are evolving into this place where behaviors that were once unacceptable are now okay.
