\n Sometimes it\u2019s OK to bash the MTA \u2014 but not like this!<\/p>\n

Police are searching for a man they believe smashed 63 MTA subway car windows over the course of three months.<\/p>\n

The suspected vandal, pictured wearing construction boots, a blue shirt and a face mask, is believed to have shattered train windows on the 3, 4 and 7 lines between May 8 and Aug. 3.<\/p>\n

Train windows were found broken across Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx, police said.<\/p>\n

Subway train glass is thick and lamented to withstand the rigors of the daily commute \u2014 it\u2019s not easily broken. Police believe the suspect used a hammer to methodically smash the windows.<\/p>\n

A subway operator last week posted a video of a 7 train stopped at the 34th Street-Hudson Yards station in Manhattan with at least a dozen broken windows, marveling at the damage. The incident app<\/a>ears to be related though officials could not immedia<\/a>tely confirm a connection.<\/p>\n

The senseless vandalism comes as the MTA struggles to stay afloat during the coronavirus pandemic, which has drastically driven down ridership and slashed the agency\u2019s anticipated revenue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is criminal behavior, and it\u2019s as dangerous as it is despicable,\u201d Sarah Feinberg, the MTA\u2019s interim transit president, said in response to the 7 train damage last week. \u201cCowards breaking subway windows have no respect for fellow NYers, and no concern about endangering their fellow riders.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will hold those responsible to the fullest extent of the law,\u201d she continued, \u201cand look forward to presenting the wrongdoers with the very large bill that will be required to fix it.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
