The autocrat \u201cis no doubt dismayed by the cascade of bad <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>\u201d as his forces flounder, but \u201cknows that his future in power, his freedom and quite possibly his life depend on the outcome of this war.\u201d And while \u201cAmericans believe that freedom always wins in the end,\u201d Putin knows: \u201cStalin wasn\u2019t deposed by Russians hungry for freedom; he died in bed.\u201d Might he \u201crebuild the Gulag Archipelago and re-create the terror through which Stalin ruled Ukraine?\u201d He\u2019s \u201cunlikely to give up his ambitions .\u2009.\u2009. without giving repression every chance to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"From_the_right_The_Russia_Hawks_Were_Right\"><\/span><strong>From the right: The Russia Hawks Were Right<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cAs Russian forces accelerate their shelling of Ukrainian cities and targeting of civilians, the world confronts a great evil\u201d one \u201cnot easily explained or addressed by so-called realist foreign-policy thinkers,\u201d\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/the-morning-jolt\/the-russia-hawks-were-right\/\">argues National Review\u2019s Jim Geraghty<\/a>. \u201cThe Russia hawks were right about Vladimir Putin; KGB men don\u2019t turn over a new leaf. Now, as ever, if Americans want to live in a peaceful world, we must prepare to fight and win in a warring one.\u201d Many may scoff at \u201chawks,\u201d but \u201cif you have sufficient military assets in a geopolitical neighborhood,\u201d then very few people will want to pick a fight with you. As ever, \u201c \u2018If you want peace, prepare for war.\u2019 \u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"From_the_left_Globalisms_End\"><\/span><strong>From the left: Globalism\u2019s End?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cWorld War I not only killed 20 million people and the era of prewar prosperity,\u201d\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/prospect.org\/world\/end-of-globalism\/\">notes The American Prospect\u2019s Robert Al Kuttner<\/a>: It ended the first globalization, as \u201cThe catastrophic 1919 Treaty of Versailles failed to resurrect global commerce and finance in a sustainable way.\u201d Now Putin\u2019s invasion has destroyed a new globalization, as \u201cIn the space of a week, economic links with Russia that took decades to\u00a0create have been abruptly severed.\u201d The war also \u201calso upends pre-existing assumptions about China and the global economy.\u201d In all, \u201cthe laissez-faire brand of globalization, relentlessly promoted since about 1990 by U.S. banks and corporations at the expense of American workers, is now kaput.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Neocon_Bidens_Short-Sighted_Energy_Moves\"><\/span><strong>Neocon: Biden\u2019s Short-Sighted Energy Moves\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To the Biden team,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commentary.org\/noah-rothman\/biden-needs-a-serious-energy-policy-to-meet-the-russian-threat\/\">writes Commentary\u2019s Noah Rothman<\/a>, \u201cthe crisis in Europe\u201d points only to \u201cour need to reduce our reliance on oil.\u201d Yet that hasn\u2019t stopped the prez from trying to \u201cwelcome Venezuela\u2019s despotic President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro back in from the cold\u201d with attempts to \u201cnegotiate the reintroduction of the country\u2019s crude-oil exports into the global market.\u201d Or from overtures to Iran that might return its oil \u201cto markets by the third quarter\u2019\u201d of 2022. Meanwhile, Biden dismisses the \u201cnotion that rolling back impediments to domestic energy production\u201d will help short-term. But the point is the \u201clong-term effect:\u201d \u201cIf our conflict with the Russian regime will be a long one, we should have an energy policy that is equally far-sighted.\u201d Yet \u201cTo prop up the green fantasy\u201d Biden won\u2019t budge on domestic exploration, \u201ca sop to the environmental wing of the Democratic Party\u201d he \u201cmay soon regret.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Libertarian_COVIDs_Toll_on_Freedom\"><\/span><strong>Libertarian: COVID\u2019s Toll on Freedom<\/strong>\u00a0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>New Zealand\u2019s crackdown on \u201can inconvenient protest against pandemic mandates\u201d brings into question how free many democratic countries will\u00a0be in the future,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/2022\/03\/07\/new-zealand-joins-the-international-crackdown-on-covid-mandate-protests\/\">warns Reason\u2019s J.D. Tuccille.\u00a0<\/a>Authorities in Wellington \u201cshocked many observers\u201d by resorting to \u201cold-fashioned head-busting,\u201d using tear gas and rubber bullets to break up a protest against \u201cvaccine mandates, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> restrictions, curfews, and other dictates that elevate public-health wisdom of the moment over personal freedom.\u201d Authorities have similarly stomped out protests in\u00a0France, Canada and the Netherlands. \u201cAlready losing patience with populations that don\u2019t always do what they\u2019re told, governments found in the COVID-19 pandemic an excuse to become less tolerant and more draconian.\u201d In this \u201cincreasingly illiberal world . . . governments are most peaceful, it turns out, when there\u2019s little dissent to test that tolerance.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 <em>Compiled by The Post Editorial Board<\/em>\n                        <\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
