Crypto journalist and Unchained Podcast host Laura Shin suggested in her new book and on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> that he never finished an undergraduate degree or enrolled for a PhD. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-03\/6abf755b-a1ca-434b-80d2-4698722cf90d.png\"><\/figure>\n<p>The dispute started on March 6 after a Twitter user stated they were reading Shin\u2019s book \u201cThe Cryptopians\u201d to get a rundown of the early days of Hoskinson and Cardano as reported in the book.<\/p>\n<p>Hoskinson responded to the post by stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Great work of fiction. Tough market to beat George R.R. Martin and Tolkien, but we wish her well.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Shin promptly fired back at the Cardano founder, as she questioned \u201cspeaking of fiction, do you want to address the discrepancies between your claims of dropping out of a PhD program and the schools&#8217; assertions that you were enrolled as an undergrad?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The journalist\u2019s book was launched on Feb. 22, and in it she stated that she contacted both the Metropolitan State University of Denver \u201cwhich doesn\u2019t have a graduate math program\u201d and the University of Colorado where Hoskinson previously studied. According to Shin, both institutions stated that the Cardano founder studied as an undergraduate, but didn\u2019t earn a degree from either. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe schools say he didn\u2019t graduate from undergrad. Also, he has said multiple times, including in our interview, that he dropped out from a PhD program.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Shin also noted that she gave Hoskinson and his team \u201cample opportunity\u201d to talk with her and provide their perspective, but they all ghosted her. Commenting on the thread, BitTorrent founder Bram Choen chimed in jokingly that she could also let everyone know that he \u201cdropped out of undergrad\u201d too. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Feel free to let everyone know that I dropped out of undergrad<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bram Cohen (@bramcohen) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bramcohen\/status\/1501238297200189446?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 8, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The community debated whether Hoskinson\u2019s wording about not completing a PHD could be technically true,\u00a0 but a little misleading, however Shin also pointed to an interview with him where he explicitly said he dropped out of a PhD program. <\/p>\n<p>During the interview, Shin asked Hoskinson whether he was getting a masters or a PhD when he first heard about Bitcoin. The founder stated that: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYeah, I was a grad student. I was trying to get a PhD and I ended up dropping out and never finished.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">He didn\u2019t say he dropped out of a PhD program.
