Biden had resisted the move, despite the purchases funding Vladimir Putin\u2019s deadly Ukraine invasion, worried it would further boost gas prices (and further tank his polling).<\/p>\n<p>But he\u2019s doing plenty to jack up prices through his policies here at home. On Monday, his own Environmental Protection Agency announced it wants to slap new rules on tractor-trailers, buses, delivery vans and moving trucks. The regs, aimed at cutting nitrogen oxide and carbon pollution, will make life harder not only for working-class truck and bus drivers, our essential backbone already exhausted by COVID fatigue \u2014 they\u2019ll hit all American shoppers hard.<\/p>\n<p>As Climate Depot\u2019s Marc Morano put it, \u201cUS climate sanctions on Americans have more impact than US sanctions against Russia.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The EPA move toward \u201czero-emission vehicles in the heavy-duty fleet\u201d will spike driving costs right as transportation professionals are facing a fuel crisis. It will make everything in the supply chain more expensive when we\u2019re already seeing record inflation. The Independent Women\u2019s Forum tracks a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iwf.org\/inflation-tracker\/\">market basket of typical family goods <\/a>each month, and we\u2019ve seen food costs explode in the last year: Bacon is up 18%, beef 16%, eggs 13% and bread 6%.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Poor and middle-class families are hurt the most by Biden\u2019s failed energy policies and obsession with the Green New Deal. They spend <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/money\/2012\/08\/01\/157664524\/how-the-poor-the-middle-class-and-the-rich-spend-their-money\">a higher percentage of their family budget <\/a>on consumer goods carried by these trucks. Former Obama-Biden Treasury official Mark Mazur <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bnnbloomberg.ca\/summers-blasts-gas-tax-holiday-as-plumbing-depths-of-bad-ideas-1.1725740\">said the quiet part out loud<\/a> last month: \u201cWe don\u2019t want lower prices for fossil-fuel buyers, we prefer higher prices,\u201d to achieve \u201cclimate change goals.\u201d Mazur was referring to a possible gas-tax holiday, but his comments <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ly to a range of Biden policies.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n<p><strong>Get the latest<\/strong> <strong>updates<\/strong> <strong>in the Russia-Ukraine conflict with The Post\u2019s live coverage.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/newsreleases\/epa-proposes-stronger-standards-heavy-duty-vehicles-promote-clean-air-protect\">EPA claims this new rule<\/a> will annually prevent \u201cup to\u201d 2,100 early deaths, 18,000 cases of childhood asthma and 78,000 lost days of work. The average Kelley Blue Book transaction price for an electric vehicle is $56,437, far higher than the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/quickfacts\/fact\/table\/US\/SEX255219\">median per capita income of $34,103. <\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s EPA move coincides with his continued assaults on North American oil and gas producers: discouraging domestic fracking, shutting down the Keystone pipeline, banning new oil and gas leases on public land. Meanwhile, the prez continues begging foreigners in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to produce more oil. Don\u2019t slap your truckers and bus drivers with Green New Deal regulations while they\u2019re suffering through record energy-price spikes.
