Thankfully, we can solve that problem.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_Would_You_Want_to_Do_This\"><\/span>Why Would You Want to Do This?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Amazon ships <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Amazon-Fire-Tablet-Family\/b?ie=UTF8&amp;node=6669703011&amp;tag=hotoge-20\">Fire tablets<\/a> with its own store for apps and games. While the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/mobile-apps\/b?ie=UTF8&amp;node=2350149011&amp;tag=hotoge-20\">Amazon Appstore<\/a> has most of the heavy hitters (Netflix, Spotify, Instagram, etc) the selection is not nearly as good as the Google Play Store.<\/p>\n<p>For reference, the Play Store has over 3 million apps and games while the Amazon Appstore has only around 500,000. But here\u2019s the thing\u2014those 3 million and more apps in the Play Store are compatible with your Fire tablet.<\/p>\n<p>Sideloading is the method of installing apps from outside the Amazon Appstore. At their core, Fire tablets run Android, and Android supports sideloading. It works just like sideloading on an Android phone.<\/p>\n<p>One thing to keep in mind about sideloading apps is they won\u2019t be able to receive automatic updates. That process is handled by app stores, which we\u2019re not using. You\u2019ll need to manually re-install new versions of apps and games if you want to stay up to date.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_warning\"><p><strong>Warning:<\/strong> Sideloading is disabled by default for a reason. The Amazon Appstore\u00a0has security protocols to make sure the apps and games you download are safe. It\u2019s certainly not perfect, but it\u2019s something.
