The two senators said they had concerns over the digital surveillance and privacy of citizens and foreign users due to China\u2019s rollout of its CBDC. <\/p>\n<p>Should the bill pass, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and Trade Representative would report on the effects of the digital yuan on trade as well as trade enforcement actions, while the Department of State would issue a warning on the CBDC. The bill also <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hydesmith.senate.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-03\/Say%20No%20to%20the%20Silk%20Road%20Act.pdf\">included<\/a> requirements for the Office of Management and Budget to develop guidelines for agencies using the digital yuan, and having foreign governments receiving financial assistance for their military to disclose if they were using the CBDC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf left unchecked, technologies including China\u2019s digital yuan will empower Russia to evade global sanctions on systems such as SWIFT and enable the CCP to further surveil and threaten their citizens,\u201d said Blackburn.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">China\u2019s digital currency raises red flags considering the historic willingness of the CCP to control everything. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarshaBlackburn?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MarshaBlackburn<\/a> Say No to the Silk Road Act lays out actions take to better prepare &amp; manage risks associated w\/ the CCP blockchain &amp; digital yuan.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (@SenHydeSmith) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenHydeSmith\/status\/1501604154858512391?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 9, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nWith Russia currently facing sanctions from the United States and European Union threatening its economy, some reports have <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/europe\/russian-banks-may-issue-cards-with-chinas-unionpay-visa-mastercard-cut-links-2022-03-06\/\">suggested<\/a> the country may turn to China for solutions, t<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ing into payment systems including UnionPay. Many lawmakers have turned their attention to digital assets for potentially allowing Russia to evade these measures. On Wednesday, U.S. President Joe Biden announced he had signed an executive order focused on establishing a regulatory framework for crypto \u2014 mentioning its possible role in circumventing sanctions.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>CBDCs will not impact private stablecoin market, says Tether CTO<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While crypto-related policies in the United States have not always fallen strictly along party lines, Republican lawmakers seem to be leading the charge against China\u2019s CBDC, potentially challenging the dollar\u2019s dominance. Senator Blackburn and Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis \u2014 also a supporter of the aforementioned bill \u2014 penned a letter in July 2021 urging Olympic officials to forbid U.S. athletes from using the digital yuan during the Beijing Winter <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a>s.
