\n Long Island residents say their electricity company has been missing in action \u2014 except to flag a fake Twitter<\/a> account that had been mocking the utility after Tropical Storm Isaias knocked out power throughout the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are aware of a fake Twitter account mimicking our official company account @PSEGLI,\u201d PSEG Long Island tweeted Wednesday night. \u201cPlease disregard anything you see from @PSEG_LI. It is not affiliated with PSEG Long Island.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response, Long Islanders lambasted the company for ignoring their requests for service.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe the fake account can actually give me an estimate for when I\u2019ll have power,\u201d Rich Zagon wrote. \u201cEven if it\u2019s not real I just need some hope at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been trying to contact you guys for two straight days now,\u201d Sam Scott tweeted. \u201cMy ETR keeps switching from today, tomorrow, Friday and now Saturday at 10 PM. I really need to know when my power will be restored. I know I\u2019m not the only one but I have school work and work from home!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been trying to get in touch with you and have had no luck at all!\u201d Sandie Kasper lamented. \u201cMy power was supposed to go back on today, then it said tomorrow 08\/07 and now it says 08\/08 at 10 pm!!!! This is completely unacceptable!! We live right near your plant!! This needs to [be] fixed ASAP!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Also Wednesday night, the company tweeted that it restored power to more than 260,000 customers out of about 420,000 affected by the storm.<\/p>\n

Around 160,000 customers were still without power as of 10 p.m. Eighty-five percent of customers will be restored by the end of the day Friday, according to the company.<\/p>\n

Earlier that day, state and local officials demanded state probes into the utility\u2019s communication failures as the storm left more than a third of PSEG customers without power, News<\/a>day reported.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
