\n A high-pressure food processor being tested to make guacamole exploded in upstate New York Wednesday morning \u2014 killing a former mayor and injuring two other people, according to a report.<\/p>\n

Former Rensselaer Mayor Joseph Kapp<\/a>, 67, died of injuries from the blast that occurred shortly after 7 a.m. at Innovative Test Solutions in Schenectady, The Times Union reported.<\/p>\n

Two other people suffered less serious injuries and were admitted for treatment at the hospital, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

The fatal explosion occurred as the food processor was undergoing tests to assess its viability for manufacturing guacamole.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear what caused the blast, but fire crews do not believe the incident was suspicious, news<\/a> station WRGB reported.<\/p>\n

Kapp, who was also a trustee of Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, was remembered by colleagues for his \u201clegacy of service and accomplishment that greatly benefited Rensselaer County and the Capital Region.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was humble with accomplishments around the world and a resume that had to be seen to believed,\u201d HVCC Board Chairman Neil Kelleher told The Times Union.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis work at Hudson Valley helped make the college a shining star and we hope his work there is remembered.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
