<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>       The head of the International Monetary Fund said Sunday that she expects a \u201cdeep recession\u201d in Russia due to \u201cunprecedented\u201d sanctions by the West after its invasion of Ukraine, and that a Russian sovereign default remains a possibility.<\/p>\n<p> In an interview with CBS <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>\u2019 \u201cFace the Nation,\u201d  IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said the Western sanctions will hit Russia hard, shrinking Russians\u2019 real incomes and purchasing power. And as for a possible default, she said: \u201cin terms of servicing debt obligations, I can say that no longer we think of Russian default as [an] improbable event. Russia has the money to service its debt, but cannot access it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<div data-layout=\"inline\n                \" data-layout-mobile=\"\" class=\"\n          media-object\n          type-InsetPullQuote\n            inline\n    scope-web|mobileapps\n  article__inset\n          article__inset--type-InsetPullQuote\n            article__inset--inline\n  \"><\/p>\n<div class=\"wsj-article-pullquote article__inset__pullquote \">\n<p class=\"pullquote-content article__inset__pullquote__quote\">\n        <span class=\"l-qt article__inset__pullquote__mark--left\">\u201c<\/span> \u201cI can say that no longer we think of Russian default as [an] improbable event.\u201d <span class=\"r-qt article__inset__pullquote__mark--right\">\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>       But she said that for the time being, Russia\u2019s financial problems are unlikely to have major global financial ramifications.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cFor now, no,\u201d  Georgieva, told reporter Margaret Brennan, according t<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/kristalina-georgieva-imf-face-the-nation-transcript-03-13-2022\/\" class=\"icon none\">o a CBS News transcript, <\/a>when asked if Russia\u2019s vulnerability risks sparking a global financial crisis. \u201cWhen you look at the total exposure of banks to Russia, it is about a $120 billion. That is likely to most hurt countries in Russia\u2019s sphere of influence, such as Central Asia and the Caucasus; countries that receive energy exports from Russia; and countries in Africa that still have not recovered from the pandemic and rely on Russia and Ukraine for grain, she said.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s problems are seen as unlikely to derail the global recovery, though.
