temporarily shut down its operations in Shenzhen, China, amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.<\/p>\n<p> In a statement Sunday night, Taiwan-based Foxconn<br \/>\n        2354,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/204111604\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.48%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., said it was suspending production at two campuses in Shenzhen, and reallocating production to other sites.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       \u201cDue to our diversified production sites in China, we have adjusted the production line to minimize the potential impact,\u201d Foxconn said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Shenzhen, a tech hub near Hong Kong, was put under lockdown earlier Sunday following a surge of new COVID cases. While Foxconn did not specify how long the campuses will be shut, it said in its statement that they will remain closed until they have the green light from local government. The city lockdown is set to last until at least March 20.<\/p>\n<p>While most of Foxconn\u2019s iPhone production in China is done at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/tech\/big-tech\/article\/3163117\/worlds-largest-iphone-factory-maintains-production-schedule-amid\" class=\"icon none\">its plant in Zhengzhou<\/a>, in central China, the Shenzhen campuses \u2014 technically in the suburbs of Longhua and Guanlan \u2014 are its largest, with an estimated 450,000 employees.
