When you donate money, you <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly know what the recipient is going to do with it. That is why people donate to \u2018Feeding America\u2019 and not \u2018Feeding America Or Maybe Taking Food Away From America.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chapek made his statement in response to criticism that Disney had donated to\u00a0Florida\u00a0state Sen. Dennis Baxley, one of the chief sponsors of the \u201cDon\u2019t Say Gay\u201d bill, which will likely be signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisney should absolutely have had a pretty good idea how Dennis Baxley would vote when they gave him money, given that he\u2019s not been shy about sharing his views on a host of topics,\u201d Oliver said in response. <\/p>\n<p>Oliver played a clip of Baxley meeting with a few constituents and warning them, \u201cI know some districts where there\u2019s a big infestation of homosexuals that are pushing their agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/John-Oliver-24.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"JOhn Oliver\" class=\"wp-image-21519020\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/John-Oliver-24.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/John-Oliver-24.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/John-Oliver-24.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>HBO\u2019s John Oliver slammed Disney CEO Bob Chapek over his response to Florida\u2019s controversial \u201cDon\u2019t Say Gay\u201d bill and the company\u2019s political donations.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Rich Fury<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Oliver noted Baxley\u2019s use of word \u201cinfestation.\u201d The TV host called its use \u201cdisgusting,\u201d and then turned to Chapek, whom he called a \u201cbusiness thumb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The comedian mocked Chapek\u2019s stance that the \u201cdiverse stories\u201d the company produces, such as \u201cEncanto\u201d and \u201cBlack Panther,\u201d are \u201cmore powerful than any tweet or lobbying effort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s obviously nonsense,\u201d Oliver said.<\/p>\n<p>The segment ended with the host dismissing Chapek\u2019s apology last Friday and Disney pausing its political donations in Florida pending review. <\/p>\n<p>He concluded: \u201cMarginalized creators have made billions of dollars for Disney. Now, should it embarrass them that it took them until this week to realize that they shouldn\u2019t take that money and use it to actively undermine those creators\u2019 interests? Who\u2019s to say?
