In 2020, the company said this feature would come to PCs, and now the API is finally available\u00a0for <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> developers.<\/p>\n<p>DirectStorage <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/785339\/what-is-directstorage-on-windows-11-and-xbox\/\">promises<\/a> to offer massive performance and load-time improvements on the PC for those unaware. The software allows games to stream data from a solid-state drive (SSD) to the GPU, rather than slowing down and getting decompressed by the CPU.<\/p>\n<p>The technology debuted on the Xbox <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Series<\/a> X and S consoles and made a huge difference. And while fast load times are great, we\u2019re more excited about \u201cQuick Resume,\u201d which is also part of the API. Quick Resume on the Xbox lets players enter game saves almost instantly, directly from the dashboard, without reloading the game. It\u2019s one of the best Xbox features and will soon be available to PC gamers.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/click.linksynergy.com\/deeplink?id=2QzUaswX1as&amp;mid=24542&amp;u1=rg\/112382&amp;murl=https%3A%2F%2Fdevblogs.microsoft.com%2Fdirectx%2Fdirectstorage-api-available-on-pc%2F\">Microsoft<\/a>, \u201cThis public SDK release begins a new era of fast load times and detailed worlds in\u00a0PC games\u00a0by allowing developers to more fully utilize the speed of the latest storage devices.\u201d Again, we knew this was coming, and devs have had access for several months, but now it\u2019s official and on the way.<\/p>\n<p>In the announcement, Microsoft mentions that DirectStorage games are compatible with both Windows 10 and Windows 11. However, Microsoft\u2019s latest operating system has it built-in and is what the company recommends for gamers. So while you don\u2019t need to upgrade from Windows 10, it\u2019s still not a bad idea.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s important to remember that no PC games support the feature as of right now. Additionally, many PC gamers haven\u2019t\u00a0upgraded to NVMe SSDs, so we don\u2019t expect every game developer to jump aboard instantly. That said, this will likely be a large part of game development in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Those with a fast and capable PC ready to take advantage of DirectStorage will want to watch out for the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Forspoken\/status\/1500863854359846913\">recently delayed<\/a> Forspoken by Square Enix and Luminous Productions.
