Only tourism\u2013heavy Hawaii was worse, minus 10.9 percent.<\/p>\n<p>New York in January had recovered nearly 75 percent of the post-pandemic jobs decline, while employment in the U.S. as a whole exceeded 90 percent of the February 2020 level, according to U.S. Labor Department statistics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt January\u2019s growth rate, however, New York still won\u2019t fully recover until the end of 2023, while the nation is on track to hit the pre-pandemic level within this year,\u201d EJ McMahon of the Empire Center for Public Policy said <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.empirecenter.org\/publications\/in-slow-post-pandemic-jobs-recovery-ny-still-trails-48-states\/?utm_source=Empire+Center+emails&amp;utm_campaign=e2481bea38-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_11_14_04_16_COPY_02&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_6cc7720848-e2481bea38-248937593\">in his analysis <\/a>of the figures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of New York\u2019s other neighboring states were much further along on the road to recovery \u2014 with New Jersey in the strongest position, down just 2.2 percent from the pre-pandemic level.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
