Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> to Philly \u201cto give these young men exposure to communities outside of the violence riddled neighborhoods that they navigate daily,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2022\/03\/15\/metro\/founder-violence-boston-husband-charged-federal-indictment-with-fraud\/\">the Boston Globe reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the couple used the money to take a vacation to Maryland, eat at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Shake Shack and other eateries, and pay for car rentals, Walmart purchases and visits to a nail salon, the feds allege.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment charges them in connection with three separate schemes \u2014 defrauding donors, lying on a mortgage <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Drawing conclusions from an incomplete factual record does not represent the fair and fully informed process a citizen deserves from its government, especially someone like Monica who has worked tirelessly on behalf of her community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/monica-cannon-grant-fraud-charges-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Monica Cannon-Grant.\" class=\"wp-image-21542687\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/monica-cannon-grant-fraud-charges-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/monica-cannon-grant-fraud-charges-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/monica-cannon-grant-fraud-charges-03.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>A judge released Monica Cannon-Grant on personal recognizance and told her she may continue to work her nonprofit but cannot handle its finances.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Suzanne Kreiter\/The Boston Globe via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe remain fully confident Monica will be vindicated when a complete factual record emerges,\u201d the lawyer added.<\/p>\n<p>The feds did not disclose how much of the nonprofit\u2019s money was diverted to the couple\u2019s private accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Cannon-Grant, who has been honored as a Bostonian of the Year by The Boston Globe Magazine and as Beantown\u2019s \u201cbest <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> justice advocate\u201d by Boston Magazine, rose to prominence in 2020 after organizing a march to protest the killing of George Floyd and other black citizens at the hands of police.<\/p>\n<p>Donald Osgood, one of her many supporters, said the charges did not change his feelings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy opinion stands as I know her work,\u201d he told the Globe in an email. \u201cShe has helped way too many people and innocent until proven guilty is the American way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe has provided food, Ubers, hotels to many of the clients she served since doing this work. A lot of the things she\u2019s done for the community were out of pocket expenses and others chipping in. Let\u2019s see where this goes. I still have faith in her work which she continues to do even under these circumstances,\u201d Osgood added.<\/p>\n<p>Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden\u2019s spokesman Jim Borghesani told the Globe that \u201cthis is a disturbing violation of the public trust and should not reflect on the organizations that used asset forfeiture funds for their intended purpose.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
