Scroll down to the app in question then enable \u201cAllow Notifications\u201d and make sure alerts are enabled wherever you want them: on your lock screen, in the Notification Center, and as drop-down banners at the top of the screen.<\/p>\n<p>You choose between a temporary or permanent banner style, the latter of which requires that you dismiss it manually. If you find Focus mode useful when working or studying but would prefer to whitelist certain contacts and apps, head to Settings &gt; Focus and set up your desired mode.<\/p>\n<p>This allows you to reap the benefits of disabling distracting notifications from <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s, while still being able to message or receive calls from friends and family.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Disable_Notification_Summary\"><\/span>Disable Notification Summary<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Notification Summary is a feature that bundles together \u201cnon-urgent\u201d notifications and delivers them as a summary at more convenient times of your choosing. Try <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/723487\/having-a-weird-iphone-problem-reboot-it\/\">restarting your iPhone to see if this solves the problem.<\/p>\n<p>Not having an internet connection will of course affect your ability to receive notifications, so you can check this with an app like Safari (and try disabling Wi-Fi and using cellular instead if not).<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unmute_Your_iPhone_for_Notification_Sounds\"><\/span>Unmute Your iPhone for\u00a0Notification Sounds<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re seeing notifications but not hearing them, your iPhone is likely muted. You can <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/767707\/iphone-too-quiet-how-to-turn-it-up\/\">unmute your iPhone\u00a0using the toggle switch on the left side of the device (if you\u2019re looking at it in portrait mode, face-on).<\/p>\n<p>The volume of incoming notifications is determined by your ringer volume. You can change this using the slider under Settings &gt; Sounds &amp; Haptics, and modify the default alert sounds for notifications like text messages, new mail, and reminders.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-768030\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/ringer_alarm_volume.jpg?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"iPhone ringer volume\" width=\"650\" height=\"345\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also important to make sure \u201cSounds\u201d is enabled under Settings &gt; Notifications for any app that you want to sound an alert (this will be on by default).<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Check_If_the_App_Is_to_Blame\"><\/span>Check If the App Is to Blame<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The app or service you\u2019re using could be to blame for the issue. This could be caused by a software bug locally on your device, or by an outage affecting the service in particular. You can try <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/666453\/how-to-close-and-restart-iphone-and-ipad-apps\/\">killing the app and starting it again on your iPhone to see if that helps.<\/p>\n<p>You can also check for any updates the app may have pending by launching the App Store, tapping your user icon, then scrolling down to the updates section. Tap \u201cUpdate\u201d next to an app to download and apply the update immediately. If the problem persists, you can delete the app then download it again from the App Store to see if that helps.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re receiving some app notifications but not everything, the way you\u2019ve configured notifications inside the app could be to blame. Some apps, like Twitter, allow you to configure exactly what notifications you want to see. For example, you can see every tweet from certain accounts while excluding mentions or direct messages.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-784944\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/twitter_notifications_settings.jpg?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Twitter notification settings\" width=\"650\" height=\"359\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>You will need to dig through the app\u2019s settings to change how notifications are set up, and each app will approach this slightly differently.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Get_the_Gmail_App\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_6\">Get the Gmail App<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re using the default Mail app for iOS you won\u2019t get push notifications for a standard Gmail account. This is because Google limits this functionality to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/au\/app\/gmail-email-by-google\/id422689480\">Gmail iPhone app<\/a>. If you value immediate alerts for your Google email account, this is the app you\u2019ll need to use.<\/p>\n<p>You can set the \u201cfetch\u201d period at which the iOS Mail app checks for new mail under Settings &gt; Mail &gt; Accounts.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Enable_Notifications_for_Shortcuts\"><\/span>Enable Notifications for Shortcuts<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Shortcuts is an app that enables you to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/368465\/what-are-siri-shortcuts-and-how-do-i-use-them\/\">create time-saving workflows and automations. These include receiving notifications for certain triggers, like at sunset or when a certain sound is recognized.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-784942\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/shortcuts_notification.jpg?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Shortcuts notifications\" width=\"650\" height=\"232\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>To make sure these notifications (and other automations) work, launch Shortcuts and tap on the \u201cAutomations\u201d tab, followed by the automation you want to edit. Make sure both \u201cEnable this Automation\u201d is on and \u201cAsk Before Running\u201d is off. Unfortunately, there\u2019s no way to disable the \u201cRunning Your Automation\u201d notification at present.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>Notifications can be both distracting and a drain on your battery.
