Whoever replaces him \u201cwould face the same domestic political incentives and disincentives, which would likely lead to a continuation of Russia\u2019s confrontational <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach to the West.\u201d Blame geography: Spread over Eastern Europe and Asia, \u201cRussia feels vulnerable and threatened, and so it seeks to avert those threats by taking a bellicose stance toward its neighbors. If a slowdown prompts the Fed to ease planned rate hikes, the \u201crisk is that inflation will stay elevated beyond what is priced into financial markets,\u201d triggering higher-than-expected boosts to the interest rate and a \u201ctightening\u201d in financial markets that could spur greater unemployment, as Summers envisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Neocon: COVID Should Open the Left\u2019s Eyes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s COVID failure, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commentary.org\/noah-rothman\/a-hard-landing-for-progressive-delusions\/\">writes Noah Rothman at Commentary<\/a>, should kill the belief that, regarding the pandemic, the US \u201chad been put to shame\u201d by \u201cstreamlined authoritarian efficiency.\u201d \u201cThe intellectual tendency that subordinates the human suffering under authoritarianism to . . . glittering Potemkin monuments\u201d led to the idea that \u201cfreedom and the public interest were incompatible.\u201d But \u201cthe virus has come roaring back in China\u201d with \u201cmore than 50 million\u201d in lockdown, and \u201cHong Kong, where 85 percent of the public has received the Chinese COVID vaccine,\u201d is seeing \u201cits worst rates of hospitalization and death. Seems \u201cthe West\u2019s capacity for innovation coupled with its culture of free inquiry\u201d actually works. The \u201cintellectual temptation toward self-hatred . . . isn\u2019t going away anytime soon,\u201d yet the \u201cforces of history regularly remind us\u201d it\u2019s wrong.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Energy beat: Behind Tight US Oil Supplies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The average cost of gasoline has surpassed $4 a gallon, \u201cyet domestic oil production has barely budged over the past two years and remains stuck below 12 million barrels a day,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/why-american-producers-arent-solving-energy-crisis-price-hike-rise-oil-gas-wells-fracking-shale-lng-climate-change-green-russia-11647354744?st=diyankb8j0euptf&amp;reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink\">observes Paul H.
