It\u2019s crucial to keep the momentum going in every aspect of your life, and that means plenty of self-care. Ideally, you won\u2019t check your email after hours, but if you must, don\u2019t answer non-vital emails. Flag them or mark them as unread so you don\u2019t forget about them, but plan on dealing with them the next day.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Work_smarter_not_harder\"><\/span><strong>Work smarter, not harder.<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Instead of going full-on into the wide marketspace right away, start out by creating your own <a href=\"https:\/\/freelancing.school\/how-to-start-freelancing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">freelancing business<\/a>. This way, you can take on only as much work as you can handle. Plus, you can give your customers more individual attention, and it\u2019s a great way to maintain time for self-care.<\/p>\n<p>You can create a limited liability corporation (LLC). LLCs are flexible enough that they require significantly less paperwork than, for instance, C-Corps or S-Corps. This makes them easier to form and keep in good legal standing. You\u2019ll require a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zenbusiness.com\/ein-number\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tax ID number<\/a> called an Employer ID Number, or EIN, with the IRS. This is essentially your corporation\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social<\/a> Security Number and both identify your business as well as how the IRS tracks payroll taxes. Perhaps best of all, whether you pay quarterly taxes or annual, an EIN makes for a much easier time when you file.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Move_around\"><\/span><strong>Move around.<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Don\u2019t neglect your <a href=\"https:\/\/positivepsychology.com\/exercise-neurological-benefits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exercise<\/a>. Working out your body isn\u2019t just about physical wellness; it can affect your mental wellness, too. It can decrease stress hormones and increase serotonin and norepinephrine, both known to speed up information processing.<\/p>\n<p>Make working out a priority in your daily routine, even if it\u2019s just a walk around the block in the evenings. Low impact exercise can also be great to do while taking a work break. Yoga, biking, and even dancing are all healthy breaks that can improve your mood \u2014 and your work \u2014 dramatically.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Go_out\"><\/span><strong>Go out.<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After working your regular job <em>and<\/em> your side gig, you\u2019re going to need to blow off some steam. Try calling your best friend for that dinner you\u2019ve been putting off or ask your sibling to coffee. Head to the local park with a book, or try that new cafe down the street. Be your own dinner date and grab some food downtown. The point is to get out of your home (and potential second workspace) and simply be out in the world. Your body needs rest, particularly when you\u2019re essentially working two jobs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/sleep-deprivation\/effects-on-body#Central-nervous-system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sleep deprivation<\/a> can lead to memory issues, compromise decision-making processes, cause impatience and\/or mood swings, and just overall leave your brain feeling totally exhausted and overwhelmed.<\/p>\n<p>You can even consider adding naps to your daily schedule, especially if you usually go straight from one working gig to another. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopkinsmedicine.org\/health\/wellness-and-prevention\/can-a-nap-boost-brain-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Johns Hopkins<\/a> suggests a 20-40 minute nap, ideally between 1 and 4 p.m. It\u2019s also a good idea to make sure your home is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/blog\/a-healthy-home-is-a-happy-home-how-to-optimize-your-home-for-healthy-stress-free-living\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">relaxing and calming<\/a> space. You can start by decluttering, organizing, and adding some indoor plants.<\/p>\n<p>Starting a side gig may be one of the best things you\u2019ve ever done, but you have to take care of yourself, as well.
